CaReer Seminar For Youth..

Since the inception of the Youth Mentoring Scheme, we have had the priviledge to meet with thousands of young people in several Secondary Schools in Lagos State and beyond. We have interacted with, mentored and financially assisted more than thirty students to write important qualifying examinations such as JAMB, SAT, NECO, WAEC, GCE etc. The School Career Day Project we organized in Collaboration with the School -Ikeja High School, Ikeja on the 11th of March, 2011 was borne out of passion to answer most of the pressing career questions and needs of the youths.

At the beginning of every mentoring session, we do received tons of questions from these young ones seeking Career Counseling and Guide, we have received phone calls, text messages etc suggesting that they need some assistances and directions. Suggestively, during the Career TalkShow, we did invite Young Professionals from different Career Fields such as Aeronautical Engineering, Banking and Finance, Pharmacy, Theatre Arts, Medical Science, Legal Practitioner, Computer Science, Journalism, Nursing, Event Management etc. as Guest Speakers.

Our intention was to motivate young people, by presenting to them successful Young Professionals who have toiled same academic paths and could relate well to their needs and challenges. This objective was realized as the students turned out in great numbers to attend the event. We had over 1,000 students in attendance and at the end of each TalkShow their questions were attended to by the Speakers.

Yeah! we had a swell day, as everyone was happy for such a successful exercise. It was first of its kind and the youths would want us to visit them again and again. Once again, our appreciation goes to the School for believing in us and also, to all our Volunteer Mentors and Friends who made the day a great success!

Swiftly, with friends help, we got them moved to a hospital where it was diagnosed that our little friend had kidney problem. She spent more than 4months in the hospital! Today she is alive and in JSS 1.
