19 Days Activism...We Want A Better World.
The
19DaysOfActivism which began on the 1st of November would end on the 19th of
November, 2013. It is our collective responsibility to nurture a Community, A
Society, A Nation and A better World void of abuse and violence against young
people.
In collaboration
with the Women's World Summit Foundation (WWSF) Geneva, we shall be
updating our Facebook Status update with information concerning this issue. Also, We would be visiting Schools, Creating
Awareness, Having Seminars with Students and School Officials. Let's Keep A
Safe World, Together, We Can!
On
November 1st, The Theme was about: Children Involved in Armed Conflict.
To date, an estimated 300,000 children are being recruited and used by diversed
armed forces/groups in over 30Countries.. #SayNo .
On
the 2nd of November, It was about •Child Sexual Abuse. Available data
suggest that 1 in 5 children are victims of some form of sexual violence.
On
3rd November, It was about •Bullying. Bullying is repeated hostile
behaviour by one or more children, which intended to harm other children. It
may be physical violence, taunting, ridiculing, threats or intimidation. The
internet & Mobile phones, provide a new form of bullying
(cyber-bullying).
On
4th November, It was about •Child Neglect. Did you know that 30% of
abused and neglected children will later abuse their own children, continuing
the horrible cycle of abuse.
On
5th of November, It was about •Child Labour. Not all work done by
children should be classified as Child Labour. The term child labour is often
defined as work that deprieves children of their childhood, their potential and
their dignity, which is harmful to their physical and mental development!
On
6th of November, It was about •Corporal Punishment (Physical
Punishment).
On
7th of November, It was about •Sale of Children. A child can be
sold for multiple reasons: sexual exploitation, modern slavery, organ
trafficking, illegal adoption, etc. #SayNo
On
8th of November it was about Child Pornography...Over 50% of all
countries have no laws addressing child pornography!
Today,
is 9th Of November and the theme is Child Prostitution! It is
estimated that atleast 1.8millions children are sexually exploited through
prostitution. Poverty is a factor heightening this risk. #SayNo
