He left the Butcher’s Store…

The most respectful, honest and courageous child that we have ever worked with is Ope, (not real name). This young man joined our free school in 2015 (next slide) after being out of school for some good academic terms! He was enrolled in Primary 3. After a few years, he left for high school. He was an A flyer.

One of our fondest memories of him was when he and his sister saw some cash on the road while on their way to school. Ope brought the money to the school management, asking if it was okay to spend the money as they have not eaten any food all through the night, till school hour. "God must have provided the money for us" he said innocently. We remember..
:)

In 2020, the family moved to a neighboring state. Consequently, we lost contact for some time, sadly. By the way, Ope lives with a single parent and 3siblings.

Fastword to April, 2022, Guess who we saw at the local market selling meat at the butcher's shop!!!? No. Not our Ope. It was a hard nut to crack. We couldn't understand what transpired. So we called for a meeting with the mum few days later.

Fast word to today, to the picture on the first slide. Ope is back to school. SSS2. Fully registered. Fully sponsored.

At Street to School Initiative, we give every child, a chance to learn. We opened a school to close prison doors and reduce nuisance values. We promote access to quality education for every child..
